The countdown begins

2 weeks to go now for my daughters 18th party which only gives me a mere 15 days to fit into my party dress gulp!

Had a few blips in my diet along the way and there seems to be a common re occurring pattern, going great guns Mon-Fri and then shazzam! The weekend!!

So this morning’s breakfast is a smoothie – 2 peaches, 2 oranges, a handful of frozen pineapple and some mango and I’m hoping the large birthday cake I need to make won’t lure me into temptation. Can you decorate cake blindfolded with a peg on your nose?

Oh did I mention its chocolate cake too? With chocolate frosting

Crafty moment

Having crafty moments :D my son asked me why I was making decorations instead of buying them. I suppose it’s the same reason why I cook, if you want something exactly the way you want it it’s better to make it than wasting time trying to find it in all the shops!

A load of tree branches, some silver spray paint and some printed coloured butterflies later and taa daaa! Decoration that matches my front room

Pocket money day

I have been teaching my kids the valuable lesson of earning your own money to buy the things you want. I have been getting them to tidy their own rooms to earn pocket money, this also teaches them the value of money and they appreciate the time it takes to get things like Xbox games which are expensive.

My 5 year old Kaelan however has decided the lesson he wants to learn from this is that ppl who have spare cash, pay someone to do the jobs that they don’t like!

Hmmm I think he might of missed the point and instead made his brother 50p better off as well! Actually 50p to tidy 1 room is a steep rate I should surely earn £6 a day for tidying the whole house??? I wish ;)

I ❤ salsa!

20130510-151431.jpg6 ingredients are all that’s in it, I have used

5 tomatoes
2 red onions
I small pot of coriander
1 red chilli
3 Cloves of garlic ( that is probably a bit excessive but I like garlic and its for my tea!), 1 or 2 will do depending on how much you like it
Ketchup – I’m using Heinz firecracker sauce today coz it was on special offer but normal ketchup does just as good a job.

All you need to do is dice the tomatoes and chop the onions and put them into a bowl. Put the garlic cloves, coriander and chilli into a food processor, or use a blender to chop them finely. I chop them by hand but a lot of ppl are not keen to do this as everything you touch afterwards tastes like chillis! Put the chilli & garlic combo in the bowl and mix the lot together and Bob is quite literally your uncle!

We use freshly made salsa in our mariachi bandit as there is just no comparison between freshly made salsa and the sort you get in a jar. Plus when you make it yourself you can use as much or as little garlic & chillis as you want. Not a fan of coriander? switch it for parsley or basil, if you don’t like tomatoes tho you’ve had it coz u can’t swap that for anything else :/
